This is a vital and necessary seminar for all workplaces.

Did you know that:

  • 500,000 Canadians miss work every day due to mental health issues, costing the economy $51 billion annually in lost productivity
  • Mental illness is the number one cause of workplace disability in Canada
  • Over 75% of short and long-term disability claims relate to mental illness
  • Nearly 70% of workplaces have NO current system in place to address mental health or mental illness in the workplace.

Wade Sorochan, renowned radio and television personality, is a mental health advocate who has had a lifelong struggle with mental illness. It affected his performance at work and at home. Since then, he has received treatment to live with the illness and has become a qualified layman expert in mental health. Wade's story will be personal, revealing, honest and heart-warming.

With a great deal of self-deprecating humour, Wade will share important information on workplace mental health. How do you identify potential mental health issues in the workplace before they corrode into negative attitudes, absenteeism and a reduction in productivity? Many staff members are reluctant to come forward with a mental health issue due to fear of discrimination and/or recrimination from staff and management. How do you deal with this?

How do you identify someone with a mental health disorder? What are the tell-tale symptoms? What is the role of management in helping individuals with mental health problems? How can supervisors and co-workers help?

Wade's powerful 90-minute seminar/workshop will help employers and employees strive toward a wholesome, positive, productive and vigorous workplace.

Wade will cover:

  • Understanding stress and mental illness
  • Coping with stress before it becomes a mental health issue
  • How to identify a mental health issue
  • How to provide support to a co-worker, a colleague or an employee
  • Tips on creating a mental health plan for the workplace
  • Benefits of a workplace mental health plan.
